Articles Under TSCA, December 14, 2022, 12:00 p.m. EST, via webinar

When the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) was enacted in 1976, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) focused its attention on chemical substances and chemical mixtures, while largely exempting the regulation of chemicals in “articles,” generally meaning finished products or manufactured goods. EPA’s more recent announcement of its intent to regulate chemicals in articles to a much greater extent has caught many in the regulated industries off guard and reflects a significant shift in U.S. chemical regulation policy. This change in policy affects all commercial entities that deal with a physical product, as they must now become familiar with the law, its requirements, and the chemical makeup of their finished goods. This webinar will cover the policy changes that led to the regulation of articles, EPA’s authority to regulate these articles, and what companies need to know to stay in compliance.

Register now to join Richard E. Engler, Ph.D., Eve Gartner, and Lynn L. Bergeson for this webinar presented by The Acta Group (Acta®) affiliate Bergeson & Campbell P.C. (B&C®), “Articles under TSCA.”

August 2022

NACD Pre-Conference Regulatory Workshop, August 17, 2022, Indianapolis, IN

Join NACD and Richard E. Engler, Ph.D., Director of Chemistry, The Acta Group (Acta®) for a special pre-ChemEdge workshop, "Situational Regulatory Awareness – What to Do When a Single Chemical Product Is Subject to Three Major Regulations – TSCA, FIFRA, and FFDCA." Many chemicals regulated under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) also fall under the Federal Insecticide, Rodenticide, and Fungicide Act (FIFRA) and/or the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA). The overlap causes confusion and can lead to severe penalties if not handled properly. This interactive workshop will use case studies patterned on real-world events to illustrate how different commercial activities involving chemicals can trigger all three regulations.

May 2022

Domestic Chemical Regulation and Achieving Circularity (TSCA and FIFRA), May 18 2022, 12:00 p.m. EDT, via webinar

A circular economy requires new thinking about what products we make, from which materials we make them, and where products go at the end of their useful life. An important but often overlooked aspect of new product development is an understanding of the consequences of the product’s chemical composition and the end-of-life implications of the decisions made at the front end of the process. Working within this framework plays a critical role in building a resilient, dependable, and sustainable system that fosters innovation to develop a circular economy. Register now to view the recording of Lynn L. Bergeson, Richard E. Engler, Ph.D., Kate Sellers, and Mathy Stanislaus as they present “Domestic Chemical Regulation and Achieving Circularity.”
