The 24th Annual Green Chemistry & Engineering (GC&E) Conference, originally scheduled to take place in Seattle, WA, was a virtual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  GC&E, hosted by the American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry Institute, has been a meeting ground for advancing sustainable science and solutions since 1997. The theme for the 2020 conference was “Systems-Inspired Design.” Richard E. Engler, Ph.D., Director of Chemistry at Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. (B&C^®) presented “Road-map for Innovators - Commercialization in a Circular Economy.” B&C and the Biobased and Renewable Products Advocacy Group (BRAG^®) were proud sponsors. 

Bergeson & Campbell P.C. (B&C^®)  was pleased to present “Navigating the Jurisdictional Tightrope Between Biopesticides, Biostimulants, and Related Emerging Technologies” deconstructing the jurisdictional boundaries distinguishing pesticides, biopesticides, plant regulators, biostimulants, and related technologies. The webinar focused on draft EPA guidance intended to clarify the lines between and among those products that are subject to FIFRA registration as plant regulators and those biostimulant products not subject to FIFRA registration. The webinar also focused on new and evolving chemistry and technology issues that may blur some jurisdictional lines or potentially move products from one category to another.  Lynn L. The Synthetic Yarn and Fabric Association (SYFA) Fall Conference brought together individuals affiliated with the synthetic yarn and fiber industry to discuss business, innovations, and regulatory changes. The 2017 International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) Annual Meeting provided information on all things safety equipment, including advocacy, policy updates and connecting with safety equipment industry colleagues. The Chemical Watch 5th Annual two-day Summit brought together experts in global chemicals regulations from around the world. The Acta Group (Acta^®) Senior Regulatory Consultant Michael S. Wenk, M.S., presented “Chemical Substance Regulation in the Middle East” and Senior Chemist Richard E. Engler, Ph.D., presented “Outlook for Green and Sustainable Chemistry.” Lynn L. PLI’s Environmental Regulation 2017 program reviewed recent activities in environmental regulation – and de-regulation – affecting compliance obligations for a range of businesses and organizations.  Among other topics, this program covered the impact of recent court decisions, new regulations and initiatives affecting regulated entities, and practical suggestions for management and compliance. Lynn L. Bergeson was a faculty member for the program.

ISEA’s Fall Meeting is the safety equipment industry’s premier forum for safety professionals interested in innovation, policy and business intelligence information. Lynn L. Bergeson, Managing Partner, Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. and President, Acta, will discuss California Prop. 65, and steps to protect against a claim, on December 1.

A former Senior Advisor to the late U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg lead the discussion on TSCA and B&C shared our insight regarding impacts on innovation and new chemicals.
