WEBINAR - - Chemical Substance Regulation in Central and South America: A Deeper Dive, February 16, 2017, 2:00 p.m. (EST)

In response to the many requests we've received, Acta Senior Regulatory Consultants Michael S. Wenk, M.S. and Karin F. Baron, MSPH presented a follow-up to our November 2016 webinar Current Opportunities and Challenges with Chemical Substance Regulation in Mexico and Central and South America and examined the chemical substance regulations of several additional countries in the region, whose regulatory environments are generally not well-known or understood.  Exploring the requirements of Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Uruguay, and Venezuela, the webinar presented a comprehensive overview of the key requirements that firms should be aware of when manufacturing or importing chemical substances.

WEBINAR - - EPA's New RCRA Hazardous Waste Export-Import Rule: How Will it Impact Your Operations? January 4, 2017, 2:00 p.m. (EST)

On November 28th, the Hazardous Waste Export-Import Rule was published in the Federal Register. The rule went into effect on December 31, 2016. The rule impacts thousands of entities that export and/or import shipments of hazardous wastes. Acta President Lynn L. Bergeson and Senior Regulatory Specialist Christopher R. Bryant presented an in-depth webinar hosted by BLR about the final rule and the steps needed to ensure compliance.

The Acta Group (Acta®) was pleased to offer clients and friends a complimentary webinar on Mexico and Central and South America that provided information and insight to help participants to achieve commercial success in this rapidly expanding region, and included an overview of regulatory opportunities and challenges resulting from regional growing pains, plus a detailed explanation of recent regulatory actions. WEBINAR—NAFTA Members’ GHS Programs: A Comparative Analysis, December 10, 2014, 1:00 p.m. (EST)

While the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) model provides a backbone for hazard communications, it is only a tool for other nations to utilize, adopt, and amend as appropriate for their country-specific needs. There are substantial differences between approaches taken by Canada, Mexico, and the United States in GHS implementation, and professionals responsible for compliant Safety Data Sheets and labels in these countries should pay close attention to the variations. The webinar, hosted by Bloomberg BNA and presented by Karin F. Baron MSPH, Regulatory Specialist with Acta, will provide background information on the major building blocks of UN GHS, and examine the specific similarities and differences between GHS in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The Toxic Chemicals Control Act (TCCA) of 1991 -- the key law addressing the basic management of industrial chemicals -- will be divided, as of January 1, 2015, into two regulatory schemes: South Korea's newly minted chemical management law, the Act on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances that has come to be called K-REACH, and the Chemical Control Act (CCA). The Acta Group will present a complimentary webinar to assist companies in preparing for K-REACH. The webinar will presented at two times on Thursday, December 4, 2014: 11:00 a.m. (GMT) for EU participants, and 1:30 p.m. (EST) for U.S. participants.
